Create VM on a specific ESX

Hi all

I've installed vOneCloud for a customer.

We have 3 of 7 dedicated ESX Hosts on our Cluster for an another customer.

Is it possible to configure the deployment of the VMs only of the remaining 4 ESX Hosts?

Best Regards

Giuseppe

You need to do so by using Resource Pools in vCenter. For every template that you want it to be instantiated in the 4 remaining ESX servers, you need to specify the resource pool.

In vCenter you will need to create a resourcee pool for those 4 esx hosts.

Hello

Unfortunately it's not possible with vSphere Standard to create Resource Pools.

Is there an another way to achieve my request.

Is it not possible to create a field on the VM template on wich ESX Host that the VM should be doployed?

Regards

Giuseppe

A possibility would be to create a datastore in vCenter shared only between those 4 ESX Hosts. If you place the template in that datastore, we believe it might be deployed in the remaining 4 ESX hosts. However the officially supported way is to use Resource Pools.
